Built around your safety and privacy

Meeting in person should feel safe. These rules are built into NextMove itself, not left to settings you have to find.

Your location

Nothing before a mutual yes

No one can see your location, distance, venue or even that you’re nearby until you both say yes. Intros never show a place or a distance.
Public venues only

Your position only counts at public places on our list, such as cafés, bars, gyms, parks, libraries and campuses. Never at schools, clinics, hospitals, shelters, places of worship or homes.
Areas to avoid

Mark your home and work. Within 300 metres of them, you’re never placed at a venue and never matched.
No location history

We keep only your latest position, and delete it within 2 hours or as soon as you stop being open now.
Venue vibe, never who

A venue’s vibe shows only how many people are open to each mode, and only when there are at least 3. Never who they are.

A no is silent

A no and an intro that runs out of time look exactly the same to the other person.
Only what you choose

An intro shows first name, age, photos, the mode and the reason line. You choose which other profile details are shown, and which stay private.
Sharing only between you two

After a mutual yes, only the two of you see each other’s direction and distance range, for up to 30 minutes.
End it at any time

Either person can end a find-each-other session instantly. Once it ends, no more positions are shared.

Trusted contacts

Add people you trust. They hear from us only if you start a timer and don’t check in, or press the panic button.
Check-in timer

Start a 30, 60 or 120 minute timer when you meet. If you don’t confirm you’re fine in time, we alert your trusted contacts with the venue name and an approximate location.
Panic button

Alerts your trusted contacts right away, and shows a large button to call 911.
Block and report

Block or report anyone from their profile, an intro or a chat. Blocked people are never matched with you or shown near you again.
Hide from people you know

Choose phone numbers you don’t want to be matched with, such as an ex or a coworker.
After-meeting check-in

Tell us privately how it went, including if you felt unsafe. The other person never sees your answer.

Adults only

NextMove is for people 18 and older. Your birth date is required when you sign up, and accounts under 18 are blocked and deleted.
Selfie verification

Take a selfie in the app and a member of our team compares it with your profile photos. Verified people get a badge.
Moderation

Photos, profile text and messages are checked automatically for harmful content, and our team reviews reports and flagged content.
Consent reminders

Companionship and Encounters require selfie verification and show a consent and boundaries reminder before every intro.
Chat only after a yes

Nobody can message you unless you both said yes. Before a harmful message is sent, the writer is asked if they are sure.
Unmatch removes everything

Unmatching deletes the connection, the chat and shared photos for both people.
