Terms of Use
Effective 2026-11-03 · Version 2
Status: draft, not reviewed by a lawyer.
1. Agreement and acceptance
These terms are an agreement between you and AI Eh-B'y, a Canadian company that operates NextMove ("the service", "we", "us"): the website nextmove-sb.ai-eh-by.ca, the web app at app.nextmove-sb.ai-eh-by.ca, and the emails and notifications we send. By creating an account you accept these terms and our Community Guidelines; the sign-in screen says so and we record the versions you accepted. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal information.
2. Who can use the service
You must be at least 18 years old. We ask for your birth date; an account that shows an age under 18 is blocked and deleted. You may not use the service if you have been convicted of a sexual or violent offence, or if we have banned you before.
3. The service
NextMove introduces adults who are near each other in public places and likely to get along, in the modes they choose (dating, encounters, friends, companionship, activity partner, networking, new in town, language exchange). There is no swiping: the service proposes an intro, both people answer, and only after both say yes does it help them find each other and chat. NextMove is not a background-check service, an emergency service, a counselling or health service, or an escort or sexual service; we do not screen users' criminal records and cannot guarantee anyone's identity, intentions or behaviour.
4. Accounts
You sign in with Google or with your email address and a password. Each account is for one person, with your real first name, your real age and photos of you. Keep your sign-in secure; you are responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us right away at support@ai-eh-by.ca if you think someone else has used it.
5. Your content
Your profile, photos, voice intro and messages remain yours. You give us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, display and send that content only as needed to run the service for you and the people you are introduced to or connected with, for as long as it is in the service. You are responsible for your content and confirm that you have the right to share it, including the consent of anyone else shown in your photos. We may remove content that breaks these terms, the Community Guidelines or the law.
6. Acceptable use
Follow the Community Guidelines. In particular: no harassment, threats, hate, nudity in profiles, unsolicited sexual content, solicitation or commercial sex, scams or requests for money, impersonation, fake accounts, spam, promotion, recording or sharing others without consent, stalking or trying to find someone's location outside the service, collecting other users' information, scraping, or trying to break the service's security or privacy protections. Never involve a minor in any way.
7. Features
These rules apply to the parts of the service you use:
7.1 Location
The service uses your location only while you are "open now" and the app is open, and only at allowed public venues. You must not use the service to locate, follow or meet anyone who has not agreed. After a mutual yes, either person can end the find-each-other session at any time.
7.2 Intros and matching
Intros are proposed by an automated system. A match score or reason is an estimate, not a promise about a person. You are free to say no; a no is never shown to the other person.
7.3 Encounters and Companionship
These modes are for consenting adults only, require selfie verification and show a consent and boundary reminder. Consent can be withdrawn at any moment; respect every boundary, every time. Companionship is non-sexual. No mode may be used to offer or buy sexual services.
7.4 Meeting in person
You alone are responsible for your decisions about meeting people and your interactions with them, online and offline. Meet in public places, tell someone you trust, and use the safety features. The check-in timer and panic button send alerts to your trusted contacts; they are not an emergency service. In an emergency, call 911.
7.5 Verification
A verified badge means a member of our team matched a selfie to the profile photos at the time of the check. It does not confirm identity, age, criminal record or intentions.
7.6 Linked accounts
If you link Facebook, Instagram, Spotify, Strava or LinkedIn, their terms also apply to that account. We use only what you allow and nothing is shown to others without your OK; you can unlink at any time.
7.7 AI features
Match reasons, icebreakers, openers, meetup suggestions and translations are written by AI and can be wrong or inappropriate. Check them before you use them. The "Are you sure?" check is a prompt, not a guarantee that a message is safe or welcome.
7.8 Safety, reports and enforcement
You can block or report anyone. We may review reports, AI flags and accounts, and warn, restrict, suspend or ban accounts, remove content and, where required by law or to protect someone's life or safety, inform the authorities. You can appeal a decision by writing to support@ai-eh-by.ca.
7.9 Plans and payments
NextMove has a free plan. Paid plans (Plus, Premium), boosts and event tickets, when offered, show the price, taxes and renewal period before you pay. Plans renew automatically each period until you cancel; cancel at any time in Settings (Stripe customer portal) and your plan continues until the end of the period you paid for. A free trial, if offered, converts to a paid plan unless you cancel before it ends. Payments are processed by Stripe. Refunds follow the law and are otherwise at our discretion; write to support@ai-eh-by.ca. Boosts and tickets are one-time purchases.
7.10 Events
Events are hosted by users or venues and approved by us. Hosts are responsible for their events; we are not the organizer and are not responsible for venues.
7.11 Messaging
Account, security, billing and safety messages are part of the service and are sent by email when the thing they are about happens. Optional messages (event reminders, the weekly best-nearby list) are sent only for the types you turned on and only when that thing happens; turn them off in Settings or with the unsubscribe link in each optional email. Text messages, once offered, need your separate consent, which you can withdraw in Settings at any time. Your trusted contacts receive safety alerts only when your check-in timer is missed or you press the panic button, so make sure they agree to receive them. Your carrier's message and data rates may apply.
7.12 Voice intros and voice notes
A voice intro or voice note must be your own voice. Before your first recording the app shows a notice reminding you of this. Do not record anyone else without their consent; getting that consent is your responsibility. Recordings are your content (section 5) and follow the Community Guidelines.
8. Availability and changes to the service
The service is provided "as is" and "as available". We may change, suspend or stop features. If we decide to close the service, we will give you reasonable notice so you can download your data.
9. Disclaimers
To the extent the law allows, we give no warranties or conditions beyond those the law requires, including that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, that you will be introduced to anyone, or that any user is who they say they are or will behave well.
10. Limitation of liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data, or for the acts of other users, venues or third-party services, online or offline, and our total liability for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of 100 Canadian dollars and what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, or your rights under consumer protection law, including the Quebec Consumer Protection Act.
11. Termination and account deletion
You can stop at any time by deleting your account (Settings > Delete account in the web app, or the account deletion page at nextmove-sb.ai-eh-by.ca/delete-account). We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms or the Community Guidelines, or that puts others at risk. The Privacy Policy and the account deletion page explain what happens to your data. Sections 7.4, 7.8, 9, 10 and 13 continue to apply after your account ends.
12. Changes to these terms
We post every change here with a new version number and effective date. For a material change, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect, and the app will ask you to accept the new version before you continue; if you do not agree, you can delete your account.
13. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and the federal laws of Canada that apply, and disputes go to the courts of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador. This does not remove any right you have under the consumer protection laws of the place where you live, including the right of Quebec consumers to the protection of the Quebec Consumer Protection Act and to go to the courts of Quebec.
14. Language
These terms are available in English, French and Spanish, and each version has the same effect; the French version is provided in line with the Quebec Charter of the French Language.
